The National Bank of Romania has published the press release on 14th of October regarding the balance of payments and external debt for August 2019. As shown, in January – August 2019, the balance-of-payments current account posted a deficit of EUR 7,080 million, compared with EUR 6,104 million in the same year-ago period.

In January – May 2019, the balance-of-payments current account posted a deficit of EUR 3,401 million, compared with EUR 2,564 million in January – May 2018. The deficit on trade in goods widened by EUR 1,476 million, the surplus on services income increased by EUR 116 million, the deficit of the primary income balance narrowed by EUR 778 million, and the surplus of the secondary income balance decreased by EUR 255 million according to the National Bank of Romania‘s press release dated July 15.

According to the National Bank of Romania press release of 12th of April, in January – February 2019, the balance-of-payments current account posted a deficit of EUR 568 million, compared with EUR 425 million in January – February 2018. The deficit on trade in goods widened by EUR 671 million, the surplus on services income increased by EUR 122 million, the primary income balance recorded a surplus of EUR 94 million compared to a deficit of EUR 117 million, and the surplus of the secondary income balance increased by EUR 195 million.

According to latest press release published in august by the National Bank of Romania, in January – June 2018, the balance-of-payments current account posted a deficit of EUR 3,781 million, compared with EUR 3,526 million in January – June 2017; the deficit on trade in goods widened by EUR 711 million, the surplus on services income narrowed by EUR 261 million, the deficit of the primary income balance contracted by EUR 894 million, and the surplus of the secondary income balance decreased by EUR 177 million.
