According to the press released of the European Central Bank on euro area bank lending survey, dated January 21st, credit standards remained broadly unchanged for both loans to enterprises and housing loans; demand for loans to enterprises declined, while demand for housing loans increased further; Euro area banks use TLTRO-III liquidity largely for granting loans.

The National Bank of Romania has published the Bank Lending Survey – August 2019. The Survey is conducted on a quarterly basis by the NBR in January, April, July and October. It is based on a questionnaire (released as part of the May 2008 analysis) which is sent to the top 10 banks. These banks were selected based on their market share in terms of loans to companies and households, accounting for approximately 80 percent of the loan stock.

According to the press release dated July 23 of National Bank of Romania, at end-June 2019, broad money (M3) amounted to RON 390,477.8 million, up 0.3 percent (0.5 percent in real terms) month-on-month. In year-on-year comparison, broad money rose by 7.7 percent (3.7 percent in real terms).

Credits standards for households
According to the Bank Lending Survey published by the National Bank of Romania, in 2017 Q2, banks tightened significantly credit standards for loans for house and land purchase as well as for consumer credit. Credit institutions pointed to the following determinants behind this evolution: the NBR’s monetary policy decisions or prudential measures, expectations regarding general economic context, requirements concerning the level of indebtedness, expectations regarding households’ financial standing and the risk on borrower’s creditworthiness.
