According to the press release of National Institute of Statistics, the average gross earnings on total economy in august 2019 were 4981 lei and the net 3044 lei. In this regard, in August 2019, the average gross nominal earnings were 4981 lei, with 110 lei (-2.2%) less than the one registered in July 2019.
Moreover, the average net nominal earnings were 3044 lei, decreasing as against the previous month with 75 lei (-2.4%). The highest values of the average net nominal earnings were recorded in computer programming, consultancy and related activities (including information service activities) (6764 lei), while the lowest in manufacture of wearing apparel (1754 lei).
August 2019 as compared to August 2018: as compared to August of the previous year, the average net nominal earnings increased by 14.1%). Earnings in relation with the evolution of consumer prices: the real earnings index was 109.8% for August 2019 in relation with the same period of previous year while the real earnings index was 97.5% for August 2019 as against previous month.
August 2019 as compared to July 2019: in August 2019, in the majority of activities belonging to the economic sector, the level of the average net earnings was lower as against July 2019, determined by the occasional bonuses (quarterly, annual or performance bonuses), payments in kind and other allowances, amounts from the net profit and other funds (including value tickets) granted in the previous months. Also, the decreases of the average net earnings were caused by production under-achievements or lower receipts (depending on contracts or due to summer holidays when meal vouchers and other salary rights are not granted).
The most significant decreases in the average net earnings have been recorded as follows:
- by 14.7% in mining of coal and lignite, respectively by 10.1% in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations;
- between 5.0% and 9.0% in financial service activities (except insurance and pension funding), other manufacturing, manufacture of leather and related products, warehousing and support activities for transportation, manufacture of textiles, forestry and logging (including fishing and aquaculture), manufacture of other transport equipment, water collection, treatment and supply, computer programming, consultancy and related activities (including information service activities);
- between 3.5% and 4.5% in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, manufacture of rubber and plastic products, other mining and quarrying, manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers, manufacture of wearing apparel, manufacture of fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment), insurance, reinsurance and pension funding (except compulsory social security), manufacture of electrical equipment.
The increases of the average net earnings as against the previous month were due to granting of occasional bonuses (quarterly, annual or performance bonuses), payments in kind and other allowances, amounts from the net profit and other funds (including value tickets). Also, the average net earnings in August increased by comparison with the previous month due to higher production achievements or receipts level (depending on contracts/projects), as well as laying off the staff with lower earnings as the average, in certain economic activities.
The most significant increases in the average net earnings have been recorded as follows:
- by 7.2% in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products;
- between 2.0% and 5.0% in water transport, activities auxiliary to financial services and insurance activities, publishing activities, manufacture of beverages.
In the budgetary sector, the average net earnings registered decreases due to granting of value tickets (holiday vouchers) in the previous months or due to summer holidays when different salary rights are not granted, thus: education (-3.2%, including the amounts reduction representing the hourly payments of teaching staff during summer holiday), public administration (-3.1%), respectively health and social assistance (-2.0%).
